ADVICE, HELP AND SUPPORT AFTER THE LOSS OF A LOVED ONE

Trying to figure out what to do after the loss of a loved one is difficult, but at East Anglian Wills & Estate Planning Ltd we are here to help you figure out the basics and take the next step. We are able to take you through the process of applying for a Grant of Representation and give you a step-by-step guide when it comes to probate.

Where to start:

Once you have registered the death of your loved one, the first step is to arrange their funeral.  If there is no funeral plan in place, then the funeral can be paid from your loved one’s bank account (as long as the account has sufficient funds).

Obtain a full list of assets and liabilities held in the name of your loved one.  Contact should then be made with all companies and any assets held need to be valued at the date of death.

It is always best to contact utility companies to inform them there is no one living in the property so accounts can be closed or suspended.

HELP WITH FORMS AND APPLYING FOR A GRANT

Once you have undertaken the above and know roughly, the value of the estate, our team are on hand to help you apply for a grant.

If the estate is worth less than £325,000.00 a full inheritance account may not be required.  However, if any gifts have been made within the last seven years a full tax account may need to be completed.

There are tax allowances available to every person over 18 years old in England & Wales

Once an Account has been completed, an application needs to be completed with the Probate Registry either online or by post. When you receive the Grant from the Probate Registry, you will be able to close down all assets in bank/building society accounts, investments and will be able to sell or transfer any property held in your loved one’s name.

WHY CHOOSE EAST ANGLIAN WILLS & ESTATE PLANNING LTD FOR PROBATE GUIDANCE SERVICES?

We can get comprehensive advice on tax calculations and allowances, in consultation with our sister company Parklands Financial Advisors, at no additional cost to you.

If an Inheritance Tax Account is not completed correctly and submitted within 12 months of the date of death, there will be penalties incurred by the Executor from HMRC, we help you to avoid this. We also help to take the stress out of dealing with companies at a time which it is difficult for you to make phone calls and send letters.
